I’m generally pretty wary of anyone who touts “AI” as a silver bullet. On top of Artificial Intelligence being a misnomer, it also sets expectations that are out of line with reality. It’s important to remember that there’s no creativity happening with any current generation AI or ML system, and they should be viewed as extremely powerful auto complete.
That said, there are still uses, especially around data sourcing and sorting. One thing that is regularly a question around our house is what wine to pair with dinner. If I’m cooking something from scratch or following a meal kit recipe, it is always a production to figure out what optimal pairings based on what we have on hand. So, using OpenAI’s ChatGPT model I set up a sommelier right over here who you can ask for pairing options. Their name is Francis, and they are definitely inspired by the great Francis Ford Coppola, whose wine (and movies) I’ve been enjoying for years.
