I design and self-publish games, originally digital, but more recently I’ve focused on analog games. You can download or purchase my games at my itch.io site.
Analog Game Design
Re-Patriots (2023)
Re-Patriots is a playbook-based conversion for Blades in the Dark. Most blades rules apply and scores are executed in a similar fashion. Instead of taking place in a haunted ghost-punk city, Re-Patriots players raid museums throughout the world to recover famous (and not so famous) artifacts that were stolen from indigenous people and cultures during the colonization of the globe by European super powers.
Regency Dueling (2021)
Regency Dueling is a card game for two players in which you simulate an honorable duel between two members of the aristocracy during the Regency period. For more information or to download a copy click here.
Five Seven Five (2017)
Five Seven Five is a cooperative game in which players work together to create Haiku and build a traditional Japanese water garden. For this game I designed the mechanics and cards and also did all the artwork myself.
Free D20 Dice Bag Plans
I designed and published leatherworking plans for a D20 dice bag for use with tabletop roleplaying dice sets.
Battle of the Bands (2015, 2016 2nd ed.)
Battle of the Bands is a matching card game which uses the Apples to Apples mechanic to pair famous musicians and bands with hit songs to generate the best cover version available. I designed this game and printed it using a JIT printing facility for testing. Battle of the Bands is available for purchase here.
Digital Game Design
Rain (2010 – Kongregate)
Rain is a mouse-based clicking game I made with Eric Pearson and Gaston Rampersad. The idea was to see if we could coordinate making a game while Eric and I were located in Michigan and Gaston was located in the UK. We used online source repositories, instant messaging, and email to coordinate and assign tasks. Gaston was the primary programmer, Eric was our artist, and I produced the sound effects and music for the game. We published the game to Kongregate in order to use the online community there to gather feedback for future projects.
Spartan Campus Quest – (2009 Flash)
Spartan Campus Quest was a game made for my final class in Serious Game Design at Michigan State University. It was an overly ambitious project to produce a web-based game which could be used by prospective and incoming students to explore a digital map of campus before arriving for orientation. Students were given fetch quests to various buildings around campus and had to guide an avatar to those buildings in order to succeed. News feed and event streaming integration were also implemented in the final builds of the game.
